Dr. Arun K. Tangirala is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Tirupati since August 2024. He was formerly with Department of Data Science & AI and the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras from December 2004. His research interests span the fields of process systems engineering, data science and artificial intelligence, data-driven uncertainty modelling and complex networks. Applications of Dr. Tangirala's research includes process engineering, structures, intelligent transportation, agriculture, climate and seismic systems. He has been teaching several full-term and short-term courses on process control, system identification, theory and applications of wavelet transforms, random processes, data science and complex networks.
Dr. Tangirala is the author of a comprehensive classroom text on System Idenification titled "Principles of System Identification: Theory and Practice", published by CRC Press. He has also co-authored a monograph on "Active Control of Buckling in Structures" (with Prof. Lakshmana Rao (Applied Mechanics, IIT Madras) and Dr. Mini Remanan (NIT Kozhikode).
